Aliano, Barletta, Costa di Rovigo, Ivrea, Nola, Pistoia, Pescara and Pordenone are in the running for the title of Italian Book Capital 2022.
The Ministry of Culture has announced that the Jury for the “Italian Book Capital” for 2022, chaired by Marino Sinibaldi, President of the Centre for Books and Reading, after a careful evaluation of the dossiers of the sixteen candidate cities, has selected eight projects, including the one submitted by Barletta.
The eight finalist cities have been called to a hearing next week for a public presentation and in-depth examination of the project. Minister Franceschini will then indicate the winning city.
Among the strengths of the project in Barletta is “Books in the factory”.
The company library for companies in the Barletta area was conceived by Euro&Promos to bring employees and their families closer to books and reading. By sharing books, paper, electronic and audio-visual titles offered by public institutions with the local community, the company makes its knowledge available, thus helping learning and study, as well as conveying its image and role, which the local user will be pleased to discover.
“Books in the factory” also envisages sharing spaces to propose literary events, workshops and meetings with the author open to workers and their families. The project of the city that will be awarded the title of “Italian Book Capital” for 2022 will be financed with half a million euros from the General Directorate for Libraries in Italy and copyright disbursed through the Centre for Books and Reading. All that remains is for everyone to cheer for Barletta.
